Digital Photgraphy

Posted by Joms Rosales

Digital photography is a form of photography that utilizes digital technology to make images of subjects. Until the advent of such technology, photography used photographic film to create images which could be made visible by photographic processing. By contrast, digital photographs can be displayed, printed, stored, manipulated, transmitted, and archived using digital and computer techniques, without chemical processing.

Please don't forget to leave some comments for me to enhance my ability.

Photography is one of my hobbies aside from playing computer games, XBOX, basketball & Table Tennis. I was engaged in photography for more than a year now, but unfortunately I haven't had any lessons from any institution due to my busy schedule and some budget constraints. Thank God that there's the internet to seek for some lessons and tips.
I'm actually a Canon user... I prefer Canon for their legendary business in manufacturing cameras and most of the units were made in Japan. My current unit is EOS 400D which was released in the market 2 years ago. I'm planning to upgrade my unit once the economic situation of Singapore stabilized and if my finance manager would permit. You know who she is :).
Almost exactly three years since Canon changed the digital SLR market forever (with the $1,000 EOS 300D) they announced the third generation of their affordable entry level series, the EOS 400D (Digital Rebel XTi). This new camera follows the design of the EOS 350D, being very compact and relatively lightweight but not compromising on manual controls or in-use performance. The headline changes are another two megapixel step up (to ten megapixels), the nine-point AF sensor from the EOS 30D, a new dust removal system which includes anti-static surface coatings, low-pass filter vibration and software based dust pattern removal. Less important but just as noticeable are the removal of the status LCD, replaced instead by a camera settings screen on the now larger 2.5" LCD monitor and the eye proximity sensor just below the viewfinder to turn this off when composing your shot.

I realized that raw images will not give you the satisfaction of the kind of output that you want. To make your images more dramatic and artistic, definitely you need to edit your images.
Image editing encompasses the processes of altering images, whether they be digital photographs, traditional analog photographs, or illustrations. Traditional analog image editing is known as photo retouching, using tools such as an airbrush to modify photographs, or editing illustrations with any traditional art medium. Graphic software programs, which can be broadly grouped into vector graphics editors, raster graphics editors, and 3d modelers, are the primary tools with which a user may manipulate, enhance, and transform images. Many image editing programs are also used to render or create computer art from scratch. But the most popular software to be use nowadays is "Photoshop". But of course you need to purchase this software imaging product. However, there are a lot of editing software available in the internet that is free to download. I have tried using this PAINT.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/) and it is almost the same as photoshop but with lesser features. But for beginners like me, this is already good enough to kick-off your potential in making your pictures more artistic.
